Plein Air Event Information for Artists

REGISTRATION INCLUDES:

Over the course of three days, artists will freely select their subjects from the numerous visual opportunities that the Havana and Quincy, Florida area presents, and then paint on-site. Highlighting the beauty and history of North Florida, artists will paint in Quincy on May 16th and in Havana on May 17th & 18th.
Artists will be tasked with painting at least one new work a day and will provide three previously completed works. All of the artwork will be displayed, and on view during the extent of the event. In addition, the artwork will be available for purchase. The previously completed works will be available for immediate purchase, while the works completed during the event will be available for purchase starting at the closing Gala on Saturday night. Prizes will be awarded at the Gala.

1st Place: $500
2nd Place: $250
3rd Place: $125
DAY 1 REGISTRATION: QUINCY
Artist registration begins at 8:00am, Thursday, May 16, at the Quincy Garden Center. Artists deliver previously painted works. All blank canvases will stamped and initialed at check-in to be eligible for final judging. Artists will disperse to begin painting. The Garden Center gallery will be open to the public throughout the day.
DAY 2 REGISTRATION: HAVANA
On Friday, May 17, artist registration begins at 8:00am at the Havana Springs Resort. All blank canvases will stamped and initialed at check-in to be eligible for final judging. Artists will disperse to begin painting. The Havana Springs gallery will be open to the public throughout the day.
LUNCH FOR ARTISTS
In addition, we’ll have lunch and learn opportunities to hear from the artists themselves during the event. These will take place at the First Presbyterian Church of Quincy on Thursday, and the First Presbyterian Church of Havana on Friday. Everyone is welcome to come learn more about the creative process! There is no charge to attend these events.
ARTIST’S HAPPY HOUR RECEPTIONS
There will be an artist’s reception happy hour Thursday at the Quincy Garden Center and Friday at Havana Springs. Both events are free. Guests are will be able to view the “Wet” artwork painted during the event, and have the opportunity to purchase previously painted work at that time.
SATURDAY PLEIN AIR PAINT OUT
A two hour Plein Air “Quick Draw” Paint Out will be held on Saturday from 10:00am to 12:00pm on the grounds of the Havana Springs Resort. Local artists can join the “Painting in the Shade” artists for this fun event. Works will be judged and awards will be assigned. Quick Draw artwork can be for sale.
SATURDAY EVENING GALA
Our Saturday evening closing Gala will celebrate this wonderful event and all the amazing art created by the artists! The artwork painted throughout the three days will be presented and available for purchase. Mingle with the artists and enjoy catered heavy hors d’oeuvres, music, and great company! Awards will be presented during the Gala. Tickets to the Gala are $50.00. Participating Plein Air artists get one free ticket.
